This is a little door I've been bugging Vic to make ever since we moved here. I wanted to be able to get back to the trail behind our house without having to walk all the way around. This summer while we were in Utah and he had some spare time, he got it done.
A few days ago we saw a mom deer and two babies. Vic and Erik walked back there and were able to get pretty close to them before they ran off.
Today the kids and I are eating lunch and see what we think is a large deer. We're pretty familiar with the family that lives back there and this did not look like one of them.
So we put on our shoes and walked through our handy-dandy door.
As we came upon the trail, what we were looking at walked into the trees and behind it came a huge elk with a huge set of horns on it's head.
It was a pretty awesome sight.

man the door thing was a good idea saving time and you don't have to walk as long way to go
That door looks cool. What a handy husband. You seem to attract large animals...like that Moose. I should hang out with you more.
I did it again. Everyone should just know Child Abuse Prevention means Kelli.
I'd love to have my house back a trail and forest like that. I just get to watch the birds and stray cats in my back yard. But I've seen some really cool birds.
What a treat! That is awesome. Poor elk- I can't believe they're coming so close. Soon they'll have to dig through our garbage.
Nice!
That is so cool, I love that you have nature so close to you and can enjoy those things. Way to go Vic! He did a nice job.
Oh yeah, props on the door Vic!
