I've posted some pictures from New Years to peak your interest. The kids had a great time. They all spent a couple of hours preparing for the midnight parade and making costumes. We didn't really think that Erik would make it until midnight, but they both were still going strong at 2 am. This was their first New Years awake, so it was sentimental for me. They marched outside in the freezing weather and banged their noise makers.
I have started my new job at H & R Block. It's fun and hard. Since a week ago last Thursday I have been working every day. February 27th is my first day off in sight. I thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal to work so much, but it's much harder than I thought. I work about 3 hours at night and then two 8 hour shifts on the weekends. My body is tired and my chronic mouse arm is acting up worse than ever.
It's cutting into my computer time at home because I'm tired of using those fingers.
Vic has been a big trooper with my new job, but I think it's harder than he thought too. He doesn't enjoy being on his own with the kids all day on the weekends.
It's been fun to work again. I like having co-workers, they are all really nice and helpful. And it's nice to contribute monitarily to the family. I also enjoy meeting new people every day. I've had some interesting clients. My office is in downtown Auburn, so we get all kinds there. Yesterday I had a couple of men come in, who turned out to be partners. One was deaf and the other was hard of hearing. They looked like they hadn't showered in a few weeks and smelled horrible. But they turned out to be very nice and grateful for the help I gave them. I'm realizing how quickly I judge people, and how different people are. Most of my clients are very nice, I've only had one get mad at me so far. He yelled at me over the phone, which I was sooo grateful he wasn't in the office at the time.
So it's been a good experience for me. If I survive this season, I will probably go back again next year, but not work so many hours.
Thanks for missing me, but I probably won't post very often until after April.

I hear ya! Going back to work is a much harder transition than I thought too. But it gets easier each day. I too have show catching up to do. I am WAY behind! Those pictures of your kids are cute!
Yay for a new post, in spite of your mouse arm. I appreciate the sacrifice. And I love that catching up with your shows was listed before spending time with your kids :)Their midnight parade outfits were so cute. I think that a parade is a great idea!
I think the parade thing is a great idea, too. We're woefully short on New Year's traditions.
I imagine that, although it's hard for everyone, it's probably good for your husband to have to deal with the kids all day. It seems healthy to mix up that mom-at-home husband-breadwinner dynamic once in awhile.
its amazing how when you get home from work how much you do not want to touch your computer!!
its hard going back to work, i was only gone for 6 weeks and i can't believe how much it hurts my butt to sit all day long in a chair!
i can't believe your kids stayed up that late! we were in bed by 10! :0)
You're scaring me. I am wondering how I am going to go back to work, my life already seems so crazy busy!
Cute pics of New Years Eve!
Smelly deaf gay guys for some reason made me chuckle. That's basically as minority as you could get... unless they were also mongolian or something.
I definitely want to march around on New Years now. I think every holiday should be accompanied by an impromptu parade.
It's great to see a new post. (I know I'm not one to talk though) I'm glad you're enjoying your job even though it's really busy. I'm sure you're doing a great job!
I love how the kids got all dressed up. That is a fun idea.
I judge people, too. And I shouldn't, because I feel outraged when people judge me when I've not done my hair, am still in ratty pajamas, and I run into Wal-mart on a Saturday morning; effectively running into every single person in my neighborhood. But hopefully they can't say that I smell...because I do take those few precious seconds to apply deodorant and brush my teeth.
See when I get home after 8 hours of clients cancelling on me so all I have to do is browse the internet, I STILL compulsively check my email and blog when I'm home. There's something wrong with me...
I was hoping you would post about your job but wasn't going to bug you about it! Love the parade pics too of course. Good times- good memories...I think that was our most enjoyable New Years ever.
